On December 21 to 22, the Tenrikyo Students Association (TSA) was successfully able to hold our first ever ski trip for our Winter Gathering. There were a total of nine participants with some coming from New York Center and others coming from the Washington DC/Maryland area. We drove up to Montgomery, New York, where we were blessed to be able to stay at Kokoro Ryono’s house and spend time with his family. On the first day, we painted their garage as hinokishin, ate dinner all together, and bonded through games. On Sunday, we went to Mount Peter Ski Area in Warwick, New York. Though the weather was freezing (at a high of 18 degrees Fahrenheit!), everyone skied and snowboarded together on a variety of beautiful routes. The TSA board members would like to share our sincere gratitude to the New York Center community for supporting us in our endeavors and making sure our Winter Gathering was a success. We are also grateful for all who attended – we hope that all members had a great time and that we will see you again soon. These past four years have been incredibly fulfilling serving as TSA’s president, and it was a blessing to be able to end it off with such a wonderful winter event.
